The four math operations are addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. These four operations are considered to be the keystone of mathematics, which makes them an important part of math lessons and math mastery. It is important for all learners to become confident with using the four operations because other math skills are built from these four main operations.
Learners who are considered to be fluent in Math exhibit mastery of the four operations. In this module, teachers will be able to plan and implement teaching and learning strategies to foster learner development and mastery of math operations. They will do this by planning activities that foster practice and allow learners to understand the four operations, their meaning and how they relate to one another.
