Applying Universal Design for Learning to Improve Learner Understanding

Module Description

When creating an inclusive environment, we first need to understand the diverse needs of our learners and then accommodate these needs to enable the equal opportunity to engage and be successful. Through applying the Universal Design for Learning principles we are able to meet these needs systematically. The principle of representation is concerned with what information do different learners perceive in a given context and how they transform it into useful knowledge. Teachers will explore and learn how to use flexible material in order to enable learning for all learners. In addition, teachers will learn alternatives to auditory and text-based information for better accessibility.

Module Objectives

Teachers will be able to strategise ways to increase learner understanding by creating a learner development plan focused on supporting learner comprehension.
