Effective classroom observations support teachers with improving their teaching practice and therefore lead to learner growth and development. An observation itself does not lead to changed behaviour, it is the conversation and practice to improve skills and behaviours that will lead the teacher to grow.
This module supports instructional leaders to lead effective observation debriefs grounded in contextually relevant and practice-based approaches. Instructional leaders will use the see it, name it, do it approach to support the teacher with seeing their successes and areas of growth, naming or exploring ways to improve, and practice and plan how to implement action steps for improvement.
School and instructional leaders will be able to use the see it, name it, do it approach to support the teacher with seeing their successes and areas of growth, naming or exploring ways to improve, and practice and plan how to implement action steps for improvement. They will explicitly practice ways to lead the planning and practice section of their observation debrief.
